Why Numbering Matters
Invoice numbers aren't just random identifiers. They help you:
Setting Up Your System
Go to Settings and find Invoice & Quote Numbers. Here you can define:
Prefixes
Add a prefix like INV- for invoices or QUO- for quotes. Some businesses include the year (INV-2024-) or client codes.
Starting Number
Choose where your numbering begins. Starting a new business? You might begin at 001. Want to look more established? Nothing wrong with starting at 1001.
How It Works
Once configured, BGinvo automatically assigns the next number in sequence every time you create a new invoice or quote. You don't have to think about it-the system handles it.
Important: This Is a One-Time Setup
Here's the catch: once you've created your first invoice or quote with a particular numbering format, you can't change it retroactively. This is by design-changing invoice numbers after the fact would create accounting and legal headaches.
So take a moment to think about what format makes sense for your business before you lock it in.
